 | Clint Ferguson is a second generation log craftsman. Born and raised in a log home in the remote wilderness of Alaska, Clint was brought up by living off the land. As Clint puts it: "Hunting and fishing put food on the table, trapping gave us money for supplies, log cabins gave us a home". Growing up without electricity, Clint's father, Reb, taught him the art of building a pioneer style log cabin with nothing but a chain saw, an ax and a drawing knife. Using horses to drag the timbers from the woods, Clint and his father built many "trap cabins" with sod roofs and moss for chinking. The Fergusons have built everything from their two homes to hand-hewn historical reconstruction | | After 24 years in Alaska, Clint brought his knowledge of construction to the heart of cypress country - South Georgia. "I founded Ferguson Handcrafted Log Homes in 1994 because I found that so many people were dissatisfied with the uniform appearance of 'kit' log homes. For the most part, log cabin lovers are individualists who don't want a factory produced home. They're looking for something that reflects their own character and personality". | | | And Ferguson Handcrafted Log Homes was built on a tradition of good customer relationships. "Our business hasn't come from fancy websites or slick advertising", Clint says "It has come by word of mouth from satisfied customers". "We don't sell log kits, we build log homes. And our customers know that we will be there for them long after they settle into their Ferguson built home". |
